Defeated?
You know what it is like to get up every morning and prepare yourself for the grind of the day. You are prepared for anything, yet when you come home, you feel as if you have been kicked to the curb. Or worse, you blew it, you really messed up.
That is one day in our life, consider Abram. We read all about him and how he blew it all the time. He really messed up by not quite telling the truth about his wife. God made a covenant with him; a nation would descend from him. Despite this, he let his wife be taken into Pharaoh’s harem.
Yet, we read later:Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,
God commanded Abram to walk before Him and be blameless! How does Abram do that?
Especially, knowing that later in Genesis, Abram lets his wife Sarai be taken into the harem of another king!
Can I ask you something… do you really think that when God commanded Abram to walk before Him and be blameless, that He didn’t know this would happen, too?
Of course He did! God cannot learn. God did not know you would blow it today, or did He?
The Bible tells us that even though we were yet sinning, meaning that even though we were not born, or even born again, that Jesus died for us. But, He also died for everything you would wrong do in your life, He knew it all, yet He was obedient! So, dear one, He is not surprised.
So what do we do?
Live like Paul described in Romans 8. It tells exactly who you are, in Christ, and where you stand before Him. Specifically: Romans 8:28 – 30 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.
So, for those know their sins are forgiven, God says to walk before Him and be blameless. He has mercifully given you a clean slate every day. His mercies are new every morning. Take advantage of this, get somewhere quiet, confess your sins to God and feed yourself by reading His word. It is the continual cleansing of the Word that keeps you blameless. Remember those temple priests and how they had to ritually wash themselves everyday, this is the picture that God gave us.
So, brothers and sisters, WALK BLAMELESS BEFORE GOD! And remember Romans 8:33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.
