What About the Rapture?
The rapture is a doctrine about how Christians are going to be removed from the earth when Christ returns, at the start of His millennial reign. There are three main schools of thought about it.
Pre Tribulation
Pre Tribbers believe the Christians will be removed before the tribulation starts and the Antichrist is revealed. This is a very attractive doctrine: who wants to be here when all the bad stuff described in the bible is happening? This is the predominant school of thought. Chuck Missler and Hal Lindsey are leaders in preaching this view.
Mid Tribulation
Mid Tribbers believe that the rapture occurs halfway through the tribulation, just before the Great Tribulation starts. This is when the Antichrist throws off his disguise and things really get bad. Jay Vernon McGee held to a mid trib rapture.
Post Tribulation
Post Tribbers believe that the rapture does not occur until the end of the tribulation during the battle of Armageddon. Jesus will return, the dead will be resurrected and the believers will be removed to acompany Christ on his triumphal return. James Lloyd and Dave MacPherson are prominent leaders in this school of thought.
Pan Tribulation
A fourth school of thought is is called Pan Tribulationism. Pan Tribbers believe it will all “pan out in the end”. We hope the Pre Tribbers are right but believe we need to prepare as if the Post Tribbers are right. It is only good stewardship. To make it through the coming bad times we need to trust in God to protect us and form a community that can get by outside the normal channels.
Do you want to be a Pan Tribber too?
