Prayer is important to God
Everyone has said at some time “why should I pray? God already knows everything.” It is true that God knows the end from the beginning, but prayer is not for notifying God of some news you have. God desires fellowship with us and prayer His means of involving us in His purposes.
Consider Acts 12:1-12. Herod put James, the brother of John, in prison and had him killed. There was no record of anyone praying for James. ( Acts 12:1-2 ) He saw the Jews liked him for that so he had Peter arrested also. ( Acts 12:3-4 ) In contrast to James arrest, Peter’s arrest caused everyone to pray without ceasing. ( Acts 12:5 ) An angel came and set Peter free so Peter went to the prayer meeting ( Acts 12:6-12 )
Ephesians 6 talks about putting on the “whole armour of God” ( Eph 6:13-18 ) Most people see 6 pieces of armour, but there are actually 7. The first 5 pieces are mostly defensive, the next one is a short range weapon and the last is a long range weapon like a cannon. What is the seventh piece of armour? Eph 6:18 tells you “praying … in the Spirit”
Why the creator of the universe needs to involve us is a mystery, but that He does is an established fact. Please pray without ceasing. Please pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Please pray for his kingdom to come.
