A Time for Choosing – 45 years later
A Time for Choosing
by Ronald Reagan
October 27, 1964
To a significant degree, Ronald Reagan’s election to the presidency stems from this speech, given on national television on behalf of, and sponsored by, Barry Goldwater’s 1964 presidential campaign. The speech remains amazingly fresh as a statement of modern American conservative philosophy four decades after it was delivered.
Thank you very much. Thank you and good evening. The sponsor has been identified, but unlike most television programs, the performer hasn’t been provided with a script. As a matter of fact, I have been permitted to choose my own ideas regarding the choice that we face in the next few weeks.
I have spent most of my life as a Democrat. I recently have seen fit to follow another course. I believe that the issues confronting us cross party lines. Now, one side in this campaign has been telling us that the issues of this election are the maintenance of peace and prosperity. The line has been used “We’ve never had it so good.”
But I have an uncomfortable feeling that this prosperity isn’t something on which we can base our hopes for the future. No nation in history has ever survived a tax burden that reached a third of its national income. Today, 37 cents of every dollar earned in this country is the tax collector’s share, and yet our government continues to spend $17 million a day more than the government takes in. We haven’t balanced our budget 28 out of the last 34 years. We have raised our debt limit three times in the last twelve months, and now our national debt is one and a half times bigger than all the combined debts of all the nations in the world. We have $15 billion in gold in our treasury–we don’t own an ounce. Foreign dollar claims are $27.3 billion, and we have just had announced that the dollar of 1939 will now purchase 45 cents in its total value.

Margate Florida – City Commission Meetings: Duck Haven
Here is a short primer on how corruption starts. One always needs to be vigilant when serving the public! Yes, do serve your constituents, but you must do it within the law, and apply it equally to all, PERIOD! If you can’t, change the law!
Duck Haven is the name given to a place behind a private residence in a gentrified neighborhood. It may or may not be a non-profit business, that is irrelevant for our discussion.
What is stinky, is politicians using public funds to repair a private dwelling, only because the person cares for injured Muscovy ducks, a Florida non-native bird. While the person who tends the ducks is well meaning, it does create a nuisance for her neighbors. But, you only need to know a commissioner and it opens the public cash register!
What bothers me, is are they extending the courtesy to each and every constituent… homeowner… friend?
I mean, can they come fix my home, too? What would I need to do for that… care for some ducks, while violating city code for years or know some city commissioner?
Oh… by the way, our city commission is non-partisan… wink-wink! But they are all members AND OFFICERS in the city’s Democratic Club… wink-wink! But it is totally non-partisan!
Wanna buy a bridge? Cheap!

Barney Frank: “We Are Trying On Every Front To Increase The Role Of Government”
This needs NO explanation. It is clear, along with Nancy Pelosis’s comment, that these people in Congress are a REAL enemy to liberty!
These are just TWO of the buffoons who are shackling the citizens they supposedly represent!
Listen to both clips for yourselves…

Non-Employee Takes Company Paychecks
Really?
Everyday, increasingly – many multiple times per day – I witness blatant acts of selfishness. Drivers talking on phones and not paying attention, no please or thank you, and no decency in public conversation.
Did this person think he would never be caught?
He was caught and now he is guilty of a crime that would preclude him from ever having a job at a company like Avaya for the rest of his life!
Much is said about critical thinking these days. But if you are stuck on stupid (that means only thinking for and about yourself,) never thinking of what consequences your actions may cause to yourself, let alone others, you are not thinking (let alone making the step up to critical thinking!) Therefore, the punishment you receive is deserved.
But Providence, seeing this before time began, provided THE way out of receiving the eternal punishment deserved!

Big Government » Blog Archive » Tuesday Open Thread: A Time For Choosing
All the words could be spoken today and would have context in our current political climate!
Progressivism… liberalism… communism… whatever its name, it is tyranny nonetheless. To stand against these takes real courage and stamina.
Rest in peace, President Reagan!

Universality of galactic surface densities within one dark halo scale-length (Nature)
Wow… these scientists really are riding that wave on the forefront of knowledge.
Co-author of the article, Benoit Famaey (Ph.D., astronomer at Universities of Bonn and Strasbourg) says that “dark matter seems to ‘know’ how visible matter is distributed. They seem to conspire with each other such that the gravity of the visible matter at the characteristic radius of the dark halo (the radius within which the volume density profile of dark matter remains approximately flat) is always the same (across wide range of galaxies). This is extremely surprising since one would rather expect the balance between visible and dark matter to strongly depend on the individual history of each galaxy.”
It strikes me as funny… that as science advances… the hypotheses more and more seem to point to some kind of intelligence that controls it all. Of course we know this to be true… God made all things by His breath and that science will not even entertain the idea of a creator! Instead, they ascribe the intelligence to inanimate matter or forces and call anything else superstition!
And those who believe in a God Who reveals Himself personally to people are ridiculed!

HR 615 – Please tell everyone you know
On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan.
Congressman John Fleming has proposed an amendment that would require Congressmen and Senators to take the same health care plan that they would force on us. (Under proposed legislation they are exempt.)
Congressman Fleming is encouraging people to go to his Website and sign his petition. The process is very simple. I have done just that at:
http://fleming.house.gov/index.html .
Senator Coburn and Congressman Fleming are both physicians.
Regardless of your political beliefs, it sure seems reasonable that Congress should have exactly the same medical coverage that they impose on the rest of us.
Please urge as many people as you can to do the same!

What is salvation?
You hear a lot about salvation: are you saved?, John 3:16, sinner’s prayer, walk the aisle, whatever. Something to the effect that you say a prayer or something and you are going to heaven. They might hand you a bible or a pamphlet and tell you to get baptized or join a church or something, but what is really involved in this salvation thing?
The three tenses of salvation
I am saved, I am being saved, I will be saved! The past, present and future tenses of salvation. Interestingly, you have three parts that need to be saved: your spirit, your soul and your body.
Salvation is a 3 stage process. When you decide you want Jesus to be your lord and trust that He paid for your sins when He died on the cross, that is what most people call salvation, as if it is a destination in itself. John 3:16, Eph 2:8-9
Past tense of salvation: Justification
Actually it is a beginning. This is what the bible calls justification. (Romans 10:9-11) This fancy word word means that to God it is just-as-if you had never sinned. Justification is a complex process but all of the heavy lifting gets done in the spiritual realm. This is a transaction that takes place at one point in your life. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit and your spirit is made alive. (Eph 1:13) At this point you are free of the penalty of sin. (Rom 8:1-2) Continue reading »

Pray for the Obama trial part 2
below is an update on the Obama Birth Certificate trial that is proceeding. I told you about it in an earlier post. This update email was sent to me by WoldNetDaily
|
Dear There have been lawsuits filed all over the country challenging Barack Obama to prove he is a “natural born citizen” as required by the Constitution. The most high-profile of these cases has been prepared and argued by WND’s friends at the United States Justice Foundation, a public interest law firm with high principles. People are always asking me what they can do to further the eligibility issue. The answer? Support the groundbreaking and relentless work of the USJF! Below, please find an important update from their Executive Director, Gary Kreep. |

Center Right? How about them Angry White Guys??
Lindsey Graham, the Republican senator from South Carolina is not going to let the Republican party become the party of “angry white guys“! Oh, no! He thinks we need the Republicans to be a “Center Right” party.
Hey RNC!!! We do not need a party that is slightly more conservative than the Progressive, oops I mean, the Democratic party. We have seen what that looks like. For far too long our choices have been:
- Tax and spend, ignore the citizens, back the corporate contributers
- Tax and spend, ignore the citizens, back the radical fringe lunatics
We need the federal government to get out of the tax and spend business. Since the mid 60′s our government has been victim of the Cloward-Piven strategy. For the last 3 years or so, since the Progressive party has been in control of the House and Senate and now, the White House as well, Cloward-Piven or Crisis Management strategy, has been the official doctrine for running the government. This is the doctrine behind Rahm Emanuel saying “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Continue reading »
