Two Emails
This morning I got, besides all the usual ads, two emails that caught my attention. They were both about comedians but they could not have been more different.
The first one I opened had a video of Steve Harvey in what looked like a basketball arena, a lot of people there. Steve was talking about what he would say if he had the pleasure of introducing Jesus Christ on his second coming. As he started his introduction, people were standing up and waving, obviously loving what he was saying about the king of kings. At the end the camera panned across the arena showing thousands of people that were worshiping Jesus, at the end of a secular comedy act. It was wonderful.
The next email I opened was about Kathy (D-List) Griffin giving her acceptance speech at the Emmy awards. She made quite clear that Jesus had nothing to do with her getting the Emmy and ended with “suck it Jesus! This award is my god now!” The other people on stage were laughing, obviously agreeing with her as she dissed Jesus.
I was cheered by the first video, saddened by the second. How long ago would it have been when neither event would have occurred? I may be showing my age, but in my younger days I believe that anyone saying what Ms D-List said would have been out of work, as far as entertainment goes. Nobody would stand to hear that trash. By the same token, what Steve Harvey said probably would not have been said in a venue like that simply because being a Christian was a social norm, going to church was what people did, regardless of whether they believed or not.
The world was not truly polarized as it is now. You either love Jesus or you hate him. If you do not love Jesus, you will probably do something like Kathy Griffin did to show how cool and with it you are because that is what is expected in the media today. In the email was a call to boycott her shows. I am not sure how effective that would be. I boycott her shows already because they are trashy and not worth watching.
Is this another sign of how close Jesus it is to coming back?

Avatar, James Cameron and The Lost Tomb of Jesus
We truly live in the end times. I am constantly amazed at the number of my Christian brethren who lack discernment. Daily I am bombarded by praise for the movie Avatar from those who say they love Jesus.
While I am sure the movie is superb, but please consider a few things before you support the message the movie portrays.
The movie is saturated with ritualistic worship, spirit communion, shamanism and blatant idolatry. This is nothing but nature worship with its god, Gaia. A Christian who exercises discernment would immediately avoid this. But, when it is coated in eye-candy, sort of like putting medicine in a spoonful of sugar, it makes it easy to accept, sub-consciously.
More so, today’s culture marginalizes the church from all directions, yet you see more and more Christians engaging and accepting the culture. It is just more evidence of the Laodicean Church age. Today’s culture promotes a worship of those who entertain us. These entertainers tickle our ears and our eyes, but with what?
Most of them eschew truth and reject the Creator of the universe, yet we give over our hard earned dollars to support them! Do you support your church with the same amount of money you spend to support the CULTure and its gods?
Paul wrote in Romans:
Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
While I will choose not see the movie Avatar, for some of the above reasons, there is one yet to be revealed. James Cameron made a documentary called “The Lost Tomb of Jesus.” This debunked documentary denied the resurrection of Jesus Christ! The basis of this blasphemy was on ossuary alleged to have contained the bones of a man named Joshua or Jesus. This ossuary has since been found to be a forgery.
Either you support the good news of Jesus’ shed blood for remission of sins and His resurrection to new life and the hope that brings to humanity by giving of you treasure. Or you support the cult of personality and the blatant anti-Christ message they proselytize.
It is a funny thing about mixing righteous things and unrighteous things (1 Corinthians 5:6.) A little bit of unright corrupts the whole. So how is it you would corrupt your offerings to God by your worship and offerings to the cult of culture?
Are we not choosing what we believe with our dollars?
