State of the Onion
POTUS gave his State of the Onion address last night. It went something like this:
blah blah blah Bush’s fault blah blah lecture blah health care is what America wants blah blah I am arrogant and do not listen blah blah we need to drill offshore and build more nukes blah blah mare bailouts blah blah bigger government blah blah repeal DADT and let gays serve openly blah blah you people need to listen to me because I know what you need and will do it to you and your great grand children’s grand children blah blah blah.
About the only thing that surprised me was his call for offshore drilling and building more nuclear plants. We need nukes to get off the middle east oil addiction, but it will be ten to fifteen years before any new nuke plants go online. Federal regulation is the main thing responsible for the long lead time for this. The radical environmentalist fringe is also good at keeping this completely carbon free energy source form becoming reality. Not that I care about the man made climate change hoax, even though BO proclaimed it was still reality in his speech.
Offshore drilling is all well and good, but what we really need to tap into is the reserves on the coastal region of ANWR. No, not in those pretty flower filled meadows the environmentalists show in their propaganda. The part of ANWR that looks just like Prudhoe bay, which coincidentally is just a few miles down the shore, where the oil pipeline head is. By the way, the pipeline is nowhere near capacity, so any new oil would be welcome.
Another place we need to be drilling is the Bakken oil formation in North Dakota and Montana. Tapping this formation alone could make us independent of the middle east oil fields controlled by violent repressive regimes that think human rights means sharia law and believe women are simply cattle.
Except for the energy blurb he gave that will be stomped on by the enviro groups the left includes in their power base, the speech was another example of how the Progressives that have taken over the Democratic party simply refuse to listen to what Americans want: small government in Washington that does not suck the life blood from the country.
That is obviously something that has to be done by American citizens demanding candidates that truly feel their pain and believe that the federal government has to be scaled back in a massive way. A second goal that is just as important is to root out the Progressive influence in education, the courts and the media that has worked for years to change history, deny God and dumb down the populace.
Do you truly believe America can and should be great again? Pray a lot. Get involved in politics. Join the local tea party movement. Consider running for government. If you cannot run, work to elect candidates that share your values and want to fix the problem that Ronald Reagan talked about in his first inaugural address:
government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.
That is more true today than it was in 1981.

An Economy on Life Support
Our tax system is one that encourages people to lie, cheat, and steal, and it is also a way for our government to hold over our heads the threat of our freedom. If we were to go to a National Sales Tax, we could take away all the loop holes for people to cheat the system. Whenever someone made a purchase they would be paying their share of taxes. The rich would pay more because they spend more, and the poor would pay less because they would spend less. But why would the more than 400 attorneys that are presently in Congress get rid of a tax system that is so complicated you need lawyers to interpret it? They won’t. Congress likes to keep things complicated so that they are then needed to deal with the complications. You should not need a CPA to pay your taxes, but you do. Congress likes to keep everything complicated. Well there is one thing they have kept simple. Their pay raise every year. They have that arranged so that it will take effect every year without fail unless they vote for it NOT to happen. The way they have it set up is a way that allows them to say that they did NOT vote for a pay increase. The truth is every Congressman can say that he did not vote for a pay increase and yet it would still take effect.
They do not take part in the same health care system we do. They set themselves apart from the rest of us This was exemplified in the 80’s when so many of them were caught kiting checks. Something that would land you and I in jail
This sounds like I am blaming Congress. No, I am blaming you and I. Because every election cycle we each vote for the one that promises to give us the biggest piece of the pie. The truth is, there is only so much pie, and every ingredient used to make that pie comes from you and I and, unfortunately our children’s future as well.
The sad thing is that this sick economy will NEVER be well again as long as those attending to it continue to put band-aids on severed arteries. They will only slow the bleeding, but we continue to bleed nonetheless.
We need to abandon politicians and elect true leaders. Unfortunately I am not sure that can be done one congressional seat at a time. The future looks bleak, and at times I think that this house of cards just might have to totally fall apart before we can begin to build it on a solid foundation again
