The last eight months have been hard. I want to thank all the friends and family that have helped us pay our rent and bills. It is time for a new chapter.
We have decided to give up our apartment and move in with a friend until things get better and we can provide for ourselves again. This will greatly reduce our expenses. God has provided funds to store our stuff and lots of strong backs to move our stuff into storage. I have done what I can to pack our stuff but have mostly relied on friends and family as I wear out very quickly.
My cardiologist tells me that I have a rare condition known as Diastolic Heart Failure. What this means is that my heart does not relax enough to fill up very much, even though it is pumping out about 50% of what is in it. I can do some walking or light work for a short time but I get winded very soon and have to rest about half an hour before I can do much again.
The stroke I had was mostly reversed by the TPA I received in time. The multiple mini strokes I had before the major stroke continue to make me weaker on the left side and affect my speech sporadically. Sometimes I sound almost normal. Often I stutter badly and cannot say certain words and have to come up with another way to say something. Thankfully I can still write fairly fluently. The intense pain and coldness in my hands and feet has gotten somewhat better, so I can type a little longer now.
We still have a long way to go and may never get back to normal. If you can help we would appreciate it. Below is a PayPal link. If you would rather send a check our new address is:

I know everybody is having a hard time these days, but I have no choice but to reach out and ask for help.
My heart gave out in February and I had to have open heart surgery. This meant being out of work for four months. Three days after getting out of the hospital my boss fired me for being too sick to do free work after hours.
A couple of weeks after I got home I went back in for treatment of Dressler’s syndrome, basically, inflammation of the lining around the heart. They treated me for that but it is going away slowly. A bit after that I had a really bad day, ended up in the hospital dehydrated with a gall bladder that needed to be removed. That set me back about 10 days
My heart cardiac arteries have been repaired but the echo-cardiogram shows my heart muscles are barely working, which is why I am still fatigued easily and short of breath. I saw m cardiologist June 10th. He did not release me for work. I cannot collect unemployment because I cannot work and the job market is not terriffic right now anyhow, sooooo…. well, you get the picture.
If you can, please help. Whether you can help or not, please pray that nothing else breaks or needs surgery.
Thanks a lot,
Brad and Julie Thompson

Here is an email i got recently. I signed the petition and believe it would be good if you signed it as well.
You have seen the quotes on this site, like “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem
Psa 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.”
Not to mention “Bless the Jews and be Blessed, again
Gen 22:15 And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
Gen 22:16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only [son]:
Gen 22:17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
Gen 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”
Stand with the apple of God’s eye, stand with Israel
It’s getting worse.
Unrest and chaos in the Middle East continue. They threaten to spread to other Arab countries.
At real risk? Our most cherished ally, the nation of Israel.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “An earthquake is shaking the whole Arab world and a large part of the Muslim world, and we don’t yet know how these things will turn out.”
There is growing pressure from many countries in that region, spearheaded by the Palestinian Authority, to continue to seek United Nations’ action condemning Israel. And now, the U.S. is criticizing an Israeli building project, calling it ”illegitimate.”
It’s time for the United States and President Obama to step into the picture….
I have just signed the ACLJ’s DECLARATION OF SOLIDARITY WITH ISRAEL, and I urge you to do the same.
Once you’ve done so, be sure to use the online forward-to-friend tool to invite others to sign it as well.
Any threat against Israel is a threat to freedom – and freedom attacked anywhere is freedom attacked everywhere. We must form a united front and stand in support of Israel and their fight for freedom at a time when the prospect of a Middle East peace is on the verge of being shattered.
Show your support for the nation of Israel and encourage this crucial move of solidarity by the United States. Declare your membership today with the ACLJ by signing our Declaration of Solidarity with Israel.

Some of my friends wonder why I am so hung up on the creative work of God, rather than talking about grace and the fact that He saved us from our sins.
The fact is God reveals himself a little bite at a time. If you cannot get past the fact that this universe was created by God, you could not care less that he died for your sin. If God did not create this universe, if in fact their is no God required to explain why we exist, why should you believe that you have any sin that would offend a righteous God that does not exist in the first place.
Our entire culture is inundated with propaganda aimed at convincing people that evolution is a proven scientific fact. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The evidence that the universe was designed is overwhelming. The media loves to ridicule people of faith. They call it “blind faith”, all the while conforming to the consensus view that there is nothing besides the natural universe. Science used to be a search for a true view of how things work.
Today, the scientific view is focused on finding a completely naturalistic explanation for everything. People in the scientific community are shunned or even fired if they do not toe the line of naturalism. Every now and then someone says something like “it almost appears to have been designed…” but then they start with the fancy footwork and back away form that statement. If the founder of Scientific American was alive today and writing, his own magazine would not publish his work. Because he believed in a creator.
Scientists have a for years clung to the “fact” that the speed of light was a constant. Twenty years ago Barry Setterfield and Trevor Norman tried to publish research that showed that the speed is light is slowing down. They were almost published but the publisher found out they believed in a creator and pulled the paper. For years they tried to get their views published and examined by their peers. Nada. Zip.
Curiously, twenty years after they tried to publish, scientists that are not tainted with the odious smell of “blind faith” are publishing papers saying the speed of light is slowing. Do any of these scientists have the class to give Setterfield and Norman any citations for earlier work? Nada. Zip.
I could go into a discussion about how other “constants”, like the fine structure constant, alpha, has been suspected of changing. How String theory says that the universe is actually composed of ten or more dimensions, only four of which we can actually sense and measure. How length, time, energy, everything, come in packages of a minimum size. How if something is smaller than that size it loses “locality” and becomes everywhere at once. Read “Inconstant Constants” (Scientific American, June 2005) for your self. They conclude that this universe is just a “shadow of a much larger reality”. Really? The bible has been saying that all along.
Bishop Paley, around 100 years ago, had an argument that anyone could look at his watch and know that it was designed, could not designed that the hand that carried the watch was much more complex and had to be designed as well. His detractors replied that this argument only applied if living organisms were in fact machines. 100 years of microbiology and other research have shown that in fact living cells are machines composed of millions of intricately arranged atoms. Bishop Paley wins, evolution loses.
Don’t take my word for it. Don’t take your teacher’s word for it either. Investigate for yourself. Find out how bankrupt the religion of evolution is for yourself. Then taste God and see how delightful he is. If you can get past the first hurdle of truth, God will give you some more truth.Print This Post Filed under CloserToGod, CULTure, salvation, Science | Tags: CULTure, Evolution, Science, stupidity, the lie | Comments Off on I have a hang up…
I heard an interesting question a while back. Someone asked “with all the gods and religions there are in the world, why do you say the god of the bible is the right one, and his way is the only way?”
Good question. I started out as a science buff at an early age. When I was 6 my favorite toys were a chemistry set and a microscope, not to mention a science encyclopedia. One thing I never questioned was what I saw as the fact that the universe was created by someone very smart outside the universe.
As a preteen I was evangelized by neighbors of many different church backgrounds. I went to many different Vacation Bible School camps every summer. In middle school I was invited to Youth Ranch and a ministry called Koinonia. I decided that what they had to say jibed with the view I had of a created orderly universe, but it really did not affect me very much, just gave me a vocabulary that would make sense many years later.
In later years I got involved in new age stuff and studied sorcery, hinduism, buddhism and various arcane systems. I eventually came to the end of these all because they did not answer any questions pertaining to the creation and maintenance of the universe.
Buddhism was interesting but it basically taught that the universe was god and the thing to do was to give up your identity and merge with it. That grated against the conviction that I held that god was separate from the universe and was a person.
Hinduism was interesting, but there were too many gods and they seemed more interested in fighting each other and playing tricks on humans. They also did not seem real interested in sin, which I was coming to understand was a real thing, not something that can be fluffed off and ignored. How could being born again and again and making the same mistakes over and over ever pay for my sin?
Allah was introduced to me but immediately repelled me. He demands that a follower perform all kinds of religious acts, continuously, forever and maybe he will forgive my sin and let me into heaven. I knew sin was not anything I could take care of myself. Besides that, the Koran was just some of the worst writing I had ever seen and really had a lot of stupid stuff. Allah created man out of clots of blood? What is up with that?
Eventually I came back to the bible and looked at it more closely. I noticed that the science in the bible matched with what I knew of science, recent science, current science. I also noticed that the god of the bible was really different from all the other gods I had studied.
There was only one god, he was a person with personality and intelligence. He was separate from the universe he created. He was holy and hated sin, but he knew there was no way that the people he had created could ever do anything about sin and come to fellowship with him, so he came into the universe he created, was born as a human, lived a perfect life, paid for the sin that separated humans from god, and raised himself from the dead so they could live with him forever.
I knew all this because he wrote this whole plan in a book that was penned by over 40 authors authors over the course of more than 2000 years. Since god is outside the universe, he is outside of time as well as space. That lets him write what is going to happen as if it has already happened. For him, of course, it has already happened, so his viewpoint makes sense.
Besides his knowing history before it happens, he is also the only god I have ever heard of that says he loves me and has a wonderful plan that includes me. Well, of course, he loves more than me, but you get the point. He also enjoys making and keeping promises: if he says he is going to do something, you can bank on it, unlike the other, capricious gods.
You want an example of promises he has kept? Just look to the Jew. There has never been a race that has been persecuted like the Jews. There has never been a race that other races attempted to wipe out like the Jews. On may 14, 1948, the Jews established a country in the homeland god had promised to their ancestors thousands of years ago.
What about the bible? The bible has been preserved over the course of many thousands of years, intact, regardless of the fact that enemies of the bible tried to wipe it out or at least adulterate the message. The history of the bible in the language of the people, after the Septuagint, is a blood bath. Many people tried to wipe it out or change the message. God has preserved his word through all that, as he promised.
It is a historical fact that the tenach, the old testament of the Jews, was translated into Greek around 270 BC. Greek is a very precise language, unlike Hebrew, which has many properties that make it ideal for transmitting messages from outside the universe to us. The Septuagint translation of the old testament was the bible that Jesus and the apostles read and quoted from.
The miraculous and prophesied preservation and restoring of the Jews is quite an evidence for the truth of the god of the bible. The preservation of the message he wrote us is another miraculous evidence for his being the true god. Good enough for me. Try god, he will not disappoint youPrint This Post Filed under CloserToGod | Comments Off on Why i believe in the god of the bible
A friend asked me what I thought of this statement:
Would you agree with this? I believe there are three “baptisms.” One, baptism of the soul into the body of Christ which happens at salvation; second, being physical in the flesh, by water after salvation; and the third (this one I hate using the word baptism for, some call it baptism of the Spirit) when the Spirit breathes into your spirit for works.
Let us look at baptism first of all. Originally, the word baptism had nothing to do with water or God. If you had some cloth that you wanted to be another color, you took it to the local baptist who would dye it for you, changing the identity of the cloth. Eventually baptism came to be a statement of identity with a certain creed or movement. This is why Jesus was baptized at the start of his ministry. Not to show his repentance from sin, but to identify with the repentant souls that were trying to follow God and get closer to him.
At the beginning of your salvation, when you ask Jesus to forgive your sins and be your lord, Jesus does indeed baptize you into the Church, the ecclesia, the body of Christ, the called out ones. Your identity is changed as he writes your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. At the same time, as a pledge or seal, the Holy Spirit indwells you, just as it did Jesus, to empower you to walk like Jesus. This justification, this beginning of your salvation, is truly a baptism.
Your justification (first baptism) is usually followed in short order by a physical baptism. This is a public statement of identification with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, what my friend calls the second baptism. See Acts 8:26 – 40 “See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?”
The third baptism he calls “when the Spirit breathes into your spirit for works.” Before someone shouts “Legalism!”, the works he refers to are like the works that James refers to in his letter, the same type of works that the writer of Hebrews referred to in Hebrews 11. These are works that occurred as the Spirit moved believers, as a demonstration of their faith.
This “third baptism” is a process called sanctification, the present tense expression of salvation. Make no mistake: Jesus has fully justified you before the father. Nothing you can do can help or improve that. This baptism occurs as you move out of the way and let the floodlight of the Holy Spirit shine out of your heart. You could say the third baptism is where Jesus identifies himself with you, in that you become a conduit he can flow through to bless the world.
This sanctification is a choice to die to yourself. Jesus said “If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me” Matt 16:24 . In John 12:24 Jesus said “Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” Paul said “I die daily” in 1 Cor 15:31 If these three statements do not qualify as baptism, nothing does.
It is through dying to self that we allow Jesus to shine out from us and do the works which we were ordained to do from before the creation. If we try to do these works by our own power they will get messed up. Jesus has to do them through us if they are to count toward our rewards.
The big question is how do we allow this baptism to occur? We can see this in the life of Jesus. He had two things in his life that we do not have as much as we need. He had an immense knowledge of the word of God, the bible. He always referred to scripture, he thought in scripture. We can have this if we follow the command he gave through Paul in Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Again he said in Eph 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word”
Bathe yourself in scripture. Download the bible as mp3’s and just play it all the time. Get music that sets scripture to music, especially the Psalms. Get expositional bible studies on your mp3 player and just stuff them in your ears before bed. That way when you wake up in the middle of the night you have something to do as you fall back to sleep. I do this every night; you cannot imagine the dreams that come from this. If you want to grow a lot in a short time, let the Word of God wash the world out of your brain.
The other thing Jesus had in his life that we could have just like him is a dedication to prayer to and worship of the Father. Just think about it: Jesus was fully God, yet he was always getting up early to pray, staying up late to pray. If Jesus needed to “pray without ceasing”, how much more do we need to spend time praying? God is delighted when we talk to him, think about him, meditate on his word and pray it back to him. We were created for his pleasure, so please him by turning off the TV and spending time with him.
As we bathe in the third baptism we become more conformed to Jesus’ image, get further from the power of sin, walk in more wonderful works, shine forth Jesus for the whole world to see, become more pleasing to him, get more ready for the time when he comes back for us so he can finish history and return to reign on the earth for 1000 years. Are you ready for his return? Are you identified with Jesus, baptized with him?Print This Post Filed under BibleStudies, Christology, CloserToGod, Eschatology, salvation | Tags: baptism, Jesus, sanctification | Comments Off on Question from a friend
here is a tweet from the president:
Notice that it will be streamed from barackobama.com/live, not from whitehouse.gov. Apparently the government approved website is not elite enough for our elitist in chief.
Ever the campaigner, he has to campaign for everything he wants to do, including moving America forward.
Mr President! When are you going to stop campaigning? You hoodwinked enough people to get the job you are uniquely unqualified to do. Instead of dismantling the American system, why do you not just do the job you have?
Stop being a lapdog for George Soros. Communism has failed everywhere it was attempted. The only purely communist regime left on the planet is North Korea and that is not exactly the kind of country ANYONE wants to live in.
Get out of the way and let America get back to being the greatest country on earth again.Print This Post Filed under government, news, News&Views, views | Tags: globalism, government, obama, politics, progressive | Comments Off on Tweet from Mr President
As I observe the people of this generation, I truly wonder if there is any hope for them. After spending twelve years in our government schools, the graduates have been taught self esteem, an expectation of entitlement, relative values and pornographic sexuality. This is all to be expected because the main thing taught by this culture is that they evolved by random chance from miscellaneous chemicals dissolved in sea water. At the same time they are encouraged to believe in either no god whatsoever or a pan-theistic earth goddess paganism.
This is a tragedy. The result of this “education” is a generation of people that do not understand that there is absolute truth. Even though it is so easy to see that this universe was designed for life (the anthropic principle), that there have been catastrophes that reshaped the earth (the fall, the flood), they still have chosen to believe the lie that God does not exist. They are sinners that need to be redeemed, eternal souls that are choosing to spend eternity outside of the presence of God.
The biggest part of the lie is the government and media relentlessly denying one sentence: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen. 1:1) Every chance they get, in every documentary or news story, they casually mention that evolution is a proven scientific fact. If you cannot get past the first sentence of the message God sent, you have no reason to believe that he has the authority to set up and enforce rules. If you do not have to believe in a creator you definitely have no need to believe in the need for a redeemer.
Part two is this: if you make it past the lie of evolution your total lack of training in critical thinking, logic, mathematics, history or anything else that used to make up education makes it possible for you to be a Bart Simpson like under achiever with little or no effort on your part. If you manage to find out that you are a sinner you then have about a 90% chance of ending up in a church that does not tell you about how to be redeemed, does not teach you basic biblical doctrines that will cause you to grow closer to God. Instead you will probably be entertained with great music, fantastic broadway quality productions, highly organized programs that help you do good things for society or the environment, anything but the blood of Jesus.
Fortunately, anything is possible for God. God does not desire for anyone to go to hell. He can talk directly to your spirit, get the truth to you. All you have to do is receive that truth and act on it. The deck is stacked against you, but keep an open mind.Print This Post Filed under BibleStudies, CloserToGod, news, salvation | Tags: Evolution, salvation, the lie | Comments (4)
