Politics and Religion… Oh, Canada!
There is an interesting lesson for us from our seeming over-achiever of tolerance, neighbor to the north. It is not what you think it may be, but nevertheless interesting.
The words “separation of church and state” are venerated by those in the United States of the progressive bend. Their compatriots outside the U.S. also hold these words in high esteem. These words contain one of the most sacred doctrines of the political left. While they are not found in any governing document of the U.S., they are held by some to be the law of the land.
The hoped-for political effect of these words is to protect the populace from any who would who adhere to a absolute standard of morality. One that transcends from a holy God to us. This is as a result of Who He is and the fact that we, bearing His image, intuitively know that certain things are wrong. But there is a problem, it effects every single one of us.
The Politics and Religion
In Edmonton, Canada, there is a local race for city council. In that race, one candidate stands out, only for his “non-conventional religious belief system.” His name is Scott Robb, his picture is at the right. He is a self-professed Satanist! No, not the kind of Satanist that worships the devil, silly!
His religion is called “Darkside Collective.” From the website much information can be gleaned. In essence Satan represents the forces of nature. It is the religion everyone would be if there was no religion (Not my words… And I know, the argument is circular.)
The website further asserts, atheists are either those who do not see a point in believing in a deity and are therefore hypocrites. Or are truly Satanists who fear the name, and thus are just cowards.
I sit and shake my head… Oh, I almost forgot, the lesson!
The Lesson
Satan has many names, they describe who he is. He is the father of lies. Yeah, there are some who worship him directly, and then there are others who are deluded into a dangerous game.
You see, the essence of what the Darkside Collective believes is that the self is the highest embodiment of human life. They even say it this way:
The simple answer that you would likely get from most Satanists is “Of course not, we are the highest power and there can be nothing higher!”
Wow, that really is a powerful statement! It leaves no room for God, does it?
I think that the things written on this website are true, this version of Satanism truly is the default religion. It is the religion of a deluded self and darkness that is spoke of in Romans 3:10-12. This is the one we are all born with, the delusion that we are the adequate in ourselves! While not really believing they worship any being called Satan, they really are.
Let us consider what God has to say In Ezekiel 28:1-2.
The word of the Lord came to me: (2) “Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God: “Because your heart is proud, and you have said, ‘I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods, in the heart of the seas,’ yet you are but a man, and no god, though you make your heart like the heart of a god—
This is written to the king of Tyre… who is, by example or type, Satan. This is the SAME desire and the SAME sin of Satan, to be like the Most High, as is written in Isaiah 14:13-14.
You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north; (14) I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’
As humans, we have also inherited this inclination. It is called pride, it is putting self before others, and God. Really making us god of our own lives. It is exactly what Adam chose in Genesis 3. Consider the craftiness of Satan as he proclaimed in Genesis 3:4-5.
But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. (5) For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
That is the deception we all fall under, that we can be like God. We all serve self, we practice that religion of the Darkside Collective, that self is the highest form of human life. But is that truly the highest form of humanity?
I say, emphatically… NO!
The Hope
You see, God knowing our predilection for sin, provided a way out of this bondage to self, and ultimately destruction. Jesus said in John 15:12-13:
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. (13) Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
This, in my opinion is one of the higher forms of humanity… altruism and selflessness. We know this intuitively! We give medals to those who exhibit such behavior. We call them heroes, and we honor them.
As for that highest embodiment of human life… it is none other than Jesus. He came to Earth as a baby (Luke 1:26-33,) and lived as a man. He was not just any man, but the God man (John 1:1-13.) As a man, he could sin, just as you, in fact… he was even tempted to sin Matthew 4:1-11,) But as God did not, proclaiming “You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.”

He was betrayed (Mark 14:43-45,) tried and found innocent (Luke 23:3,) and sent to the cross so a murderer (Luke 23:18-19) could be freed!
He took that punishment willingly (Philippians 2:8,) becoming sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21,) and taking our punishment upon himself (Isaiah 53:3-5.) He gave up His Spirit (Matthew 27:50)willingly after crying “Tetelestai!” That is Greek for “It is finished!” It is what was put on a contract of an indentured servant when his debt was fulfilled, in other words, “paid in full!”
That means that the debt we owed to God for our lives of sin, was satisfied, completely!
That is not all, after three days He rose again, (1 Corinthians 15:3-8) the first fruits of resurrection. He was the embodiment of the hope we all have, a new body fit for eternity!
This is the hope of the Christian and the true invitation from God. Love mercy, act justly and walk humbly before Him (Micah 6:8.) How do we do that?
“Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent” – (John 6:29)
It is a simple thing to understand…
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. (18) Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” – John 3:17-18
There are only two options…
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. – John 3:36
Remember that murderer, Barabbas who was set free? He is you! And my hope is for you to know God, and believe in Jesus, that He died and rose again for you. You see, our just reward for offending an eternal being by how we choose to live for self is eternity in hell. But by the grace of God, He has provided a payment, an eternal being taking the punishment for our transgressions.
Therefore making a way for us to go to heaven!

Tweet from Mr President
here is a tweet from the president:
BarackObama Barack Obama Don’t miss tonight’s Moving America Forward rally in Columbus. Watch live at barackobama.com/live, beginning at 6pm ET.
Notice that it will be streamed from barackobama.com/live, not from whitehouse.gov. Apparently the government approved website is not elite enough for our elitist in chief.
Ever the campaigner, he has to campaign for everything he wants to do, including moving America forward.
Mr President! When are you going to stop campaigning? You hoodwinked enough people to get the job you are uniquely unqualified to do. Instead of dismantling the American system, why do you not just do the job you have?
Stop being a lapdog for George Soros. Communism has failed everywhere it was attempted. The only purely communist regime left on the planet is North Korea and that is not exactly the kind of country ANYONE wants to live in.
Get out of the way and let America get back to being the greatest country on earth again.

What have we learned in 2,064 years?
What have we learned in 2,064 years?
“The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Romebecome bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”
– Cicero – 55 BC

No budget, no appropriations bill, no tax bill the Colbert Democrats
by Charles Krauthammer
A president’s first midterm election is inevitably a referendum on his two years in office. The bad news for Democrats is that President Obama’s “re-elect” number is 38 percent – precisely Bill Clinton’s in October 1994, the eve of the wave election that gave Republicans control of the House for the first time in 40 years.
Yet this same poll found that 65 percent view Obama favorably “as a person.” The current Democratic crisis is not about the man – his alleged lack of empathy, ability to emote, etc., requiring remediation with backyard, shirt-sleeved shoulder rubbing with the folks – but about the policies.
And the problem with the policies is twofold: ideology and effectiveness. First, Obama, abetted by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, tried to take a center-right country to the left. They grossly misread the 2008 election. It was a mandate to fix the economy and restore American confidence. Obama read it as a mandate to change the American social contract, giving it a more European social-democratic stamp, by fundamentally extending the reach and power of government in health care, energy, education, finance and industrial policy.
Obama succeeded with health care. Unfortunately for the Democrats, that and Obama’s other signature achievement – the stimulus – were not exactly what the folks were clamoring for. What they wanted was economic recovery.
Here the Democrats failed the simple test of effectiveness. The economy is extraordinarily weak, unemployment is unacceptably high and the only sure consequence of the stimulus is nearly $1 trillion added to the national debt in a single stroke.
And yet, to these albatrosses of ideological overreach and economic ineffectiveness, the Democrats have managed in the last few weeks to add a third indictment: incompetence.
For the first time since modern budgeting was introduced with the Budget Act of 1974, the House failed to even write a budget. This in a year of extraordinary deficits, rising uncertainty and jittery financial markets. Gold is going through the roof. Confidence in the dollar and the American economy is falling – largely because of massive overhanging debt. Yet no budget emerged from Congress to give guidance, let alone reassurance, about future U.S. revenues and spending.
That’s not all. Congress has not passed a single appropriations bill. To keep the government going, Congress passed a so-called continuing resolution (CR) before adjourning to campaign. The problem with continuing to spend at the current level is that the last two years have seen a huge 28 percent jump in non-defense discretionary spending. The CR continues this profligacy, aggravating an already serious debt problem.
As if this was not enough, Congress then adjourned without even a vote – nay, without even a Democratic bill – on the expiring Bush tax cuts. This is the ultimate in incompetence. After 20 months of control of the White House and Congress – during which they passed an elaborate, 1,000-page micromanagement of every detail of American health care – the Democrats adjourned without being able to tell the country what its tax rates will be on Jan. 1.
It’s not just income taxes. It’s capital gains and dividends too. And the estate tax, which will careen insanely from 0 to 55 percent when the ball drops on Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
Nor is this harmless incompetence. To do this at a time when $2 trillion of capital is sitting on the sidelines because of rising uncertainty – and there is no greater uncertainty than next year’s tax rates – is staggeringly irresponsible.
As if this display of unseriousness – no budget, no appropriations bill, no tax bill – was not enough, some genius on a House Judiciary subcommittee invites parodist Stephen Colbert to testify as an expert witness on immigration. He then pulls off a nervy mockery of the whole proceedings – my favorite was his request to have his colonoscopy inserted in the Congressional Record – while the chairwoman sits there clueless.
A fitting end for the 111th Congress. But not quite. Colbert will return to the scene of the crime on Oct. 30 as the leader of one of two mock rallies on the National Mall. Comedian Jon Stewart leads the other. At a time of near-10 percent unemployment, a difficult and draining war abroad, and widespread disgust with government overreach and incompetence, they will light up the TV screens as the hip face of the new liberalism – just three days before the election.
I suspect the electorate will declare itself not amused.

The Ant and The Grasshopper
The ANT AND THE GRASSHOPPER This one is a little different ….
Two Different Versions …
Two Different Morals
OL D VERSIONThe ant works
hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.
The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.
MORAL OF THE OLD STORY: Be responsible for yourself!
MODERN VERSIONThe ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grass hopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.
CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green…’
ACORN stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, We shall overcome.
Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper’s sake.
President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.
Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the
grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity &
Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of
the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper! and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.
The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Be careful how you vote in 2010.I’ve sent this to you because I believe that you are an ant not a grasshopper!
Make sure that you pass this on to other ants.
Don’t bother sending it on to any grasshoppers because they wouldn’t understand it, anyway

Urgent Comment from Understand The Times
A meeting held recently in Austria attended by the “elite,” has set in motion the agenda that will change the world until Jesus comes for His Church in the rapture. (I Thessalonians 4:17).
Expect three trends to happen fulfilling the 666 plan:
- The development of a global government. (6)
- The development of a global currency within a global economy. (6)
- The development of a global religion for peace. (6)
The “fundamental transformation” of the United States and every other country in the world has begun.
Born-again Bible believing Christians will be a remnant. Believers who follow the true Jesus and His Word will proclaim the truth in love and expose the “lie”. This will happen worldwide.
Christians can expect the following:
- The shocking collapse of many well respected “Christian” organizations.
- The development of a counterfeit bride for a counterfeit Christ (Revelation 17:1-9).
- Perilous times (2 Timothy chapter 3).
The counter prevention for Apostasy
- Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalms 122:6).
- Read 2 Timothy 4:1-8.
- Pray each day to be led by the Holy Spirit. (John 16:13).
- Proclaim the gospel. (2 Corinthians 4:3-5).
- Be a watchman for Jesus Christ. (Ezekiel 3:17).
- Be a good servant. (2 Timothy chapter 2).
- Read Colossians chapters 1 though 4
Sincerely in the name of Jesus Christ,
Roger Oakland

Oval Office Extreme Makeover? – Political Punch
There are reports that the Oval Office had an extreme make-over this past weekend. I marvel at the timing, well… no I don’t!
But, if I were the betting type, I would wager the primary color used is red, or possibly green. But since I am not, it really doesn’t matter. What matters is was this really necessary?
Was the expenditure from the public treasury justifiable in our precarious economic times?
Or are those of the political elite that far disconnected from the average Joe?
We shall see, soon!
