Warning by Juval Aviv

September 28th, 2009

I just got an email about predictions by a security expert named Juval Aviv. I looked it up on snopes and wikipedia, who shared text and both called him a liar. He is supposed to be ex-mossad. Sources (Mossad and CIA) quoted by snopes and wikipedia say they never heard of him. The email has been going around since 2007, so the “within 90 days” part is probably not valid ;-)

TruthOrFiction said some of the email was false but on the whole it was good advice. The advice given is said to jibe with similar advice given an a government readiness site. Here is an excerpt:

There was an international security conference held in April of 2008 in New York hosted by the New York chapter of the AISIS Organization.  Although it is not certain that Juval Aviv gave a presentation at this conference there was an article published by Don Aviv of Interfor, Inc, called “Terrorism Vulnerability Assessments (TVAs):Statistical vs. ‘Real-World’ Models.” The article discusses the current terrorist threat situation and offers low cost anti terrorist tips for corporations.  Click for article

The Department of Homeland Security put up a Ready.Gov web site with resources to equip citizens with planning tools in the event of a disaster or attack which are pretty much in alignment to the emergency plan that Juval Aviv outlined.   Click for Ready.Gov website

About all I know for sure is we are living in interesting times. I am going to study the articles and plan accordingly if it is good advice. More later.

Are you ready for the coming storm?

A newly found nuclear production facility in Iran. England, France and the US together call out Iran over their nuclear ambitions. Talk of Israel attacking Iran to destroy those facilities. Brezinski calling for the US to attack Israeli war planes if they do attack.
G20 meetings protested in Pittsburgh. Islam on Capitol Hill brings 2 to 5000 muslims and non muslim protesters to Washington. Weeks before 1 to 2 million TEA Partiers marched on Washington, did not have any arrests and picked up their trash on the way home; they were ignored by the US Government and could explode some time soon.
To say the least, we are living in interesting times. There is talk of coming riots, hyper inflation, martial law, swine flu quarantines, limited nuclear strikes, etc.
Not to sound like an alarmist, but I wonder if you are physically prepared for the possibility of being stuck at home with no way to get food, possibly no electricity or water? Continue reading »

Basic Survival tips

September 24th, 2009

Hard times are ahead. They will include home foreclosures, inflation, food shortages, etc.

Being from florida, this sounds to me like preparing for a hurricane. I guess if you think of the bad times as a storm brewing, you will not be too far off.

The most important thing to do is have a plan? Think about it beforehand and prepare. Only you know what your family needs to survive.

Some things to put on your checklist include

  • Food -Store canned goods and freeze dried meals. Use the canned goods when you can stay where you are – Freeze dried transports more easily
  • Water -About 1 gallon per person per day – Water can be stockpiled easily at home in any kind of container you can find. Camping supply stores sell folding water containers. These fold flat for storage or transport to a water supply. Gerber has breast milk bags that are secure and strong for personal water supply on the go
  • shelter – Walmart usually has good prices on tents and sleeping bags, as well as other camping supplies.
  • medicine – it is difficult with managed care insurance mandating no excess medicine, but try to keep at least a two week supply of essential medicines on hand. Do what you can to eliminate needing medicine, if possible. Herbs might do a good job, maybe you need exercise to get over diabetes. Do what you can to improve your health while the system is still working.
  • pet supplies – When on the move, non working pets might be a burden. Be sure to take essentials like nail clippers, ear drops, medicine you pet needs.
  • communications – battery or hand crank radios  can keep you in touch with the news. Walkie talkies are good for short range but might be listened in on if not encrypted. Morse code is a good bet using a flash light or mirror.
  • important papers – while maintaining an identity is safe, make sure you have current passports on hand. Other papers might be birth certificates, mortgage, insurance policies, etc.
  • Entertainment – this might seem unimportant but…. No we are not there yet!!!!!!! Parents know what I am saying. Coloring books and crayons, pencils and paper, bible, books, anything you will use to pass the time is good.

This should get you started. Look at the weblinks for survival sites too.
