You're outlook on this church will soon change from CHURCH to BUSINESS. I was on staff for 11 months and had to leave because we didnt open the Bible ONCE during any staff meetings. All we were taught was the importance of being a leader, and making sure a lighting cue wasnt missed during a service. Because we all know that little things like that are responsible for people not coming to know Christ, right? WRONG. I'll never forget when Pastor Troy came to one of our services (we were a sattelite campus) and he had a meeting with us after EVERY service, explaining what went wrong. But his corrections had nothing to do with Jesus Christ. They had to do with what lighting cues were missed, and that a microphone was feeding back for half a second during a song. If this is where a churches focus is, I want no part in it. This church is over-run by a young, ignorant, self serving staff, that only cares about numbers and more numbers. I know. The great thing about having a church on every corner means you get to willingly choose where to worship. Potential Church is not for everyone, same goes for every church out there. Find a church you like and go there; 7. Jesus is all over the Church. He is in the pastor, in the members, in the volunteers, in the children. Jesus lives in us and the church, not a website. Would you rather it be named HOPE, FIRST BAPTIST, CALVARY, CHURCH OF GOD, those names are everywhere... at least Potential Church is unique; 4. Potential is comprised of several pastors. I don't think there is anything wrong with people identifying with a particular pastor and having him and his life as a role model of how we should act. No one worships the pastor there, we worship Jesus; 5. No one has an ego. What's wrong with having someone like Troy Gramling, Joel Osteen, or Joyce Myer lead a church? People may be drawn to them, type them in google, and get connected to a church. I fail to see how that is a bad thing; 1. Of course it's a church; 2. The student ministry is amazing, its called TheRUSH (highschool) and Adrenaline (middle school) and all i ever see there is love, passion and the word of God. Pastor Troy's son is one of my best friends and i have seen his leader ship and his humble behavior, i strive to gain the leadership and relationship with God that he has, along with the Global Student pastor Scot Mendenhall. I used to be jewish and i was saved here, and do you want to know what drew me in to church? The reason so many of you shoot down Potential Church? Its because of its atmosphere ( the lights, music, people, skate ramps). Id like to put more but i dont have the attention span. I am 100% agree with you and I did volunteer as well. I didn't have 1, 2, 3, 4, or just 5 reasons to leave Potential Church but I had a lot of reasons of why I am leaving. I know some other people like Marilyn still have to complete a cycle with Potential Church and that's fine. I thank Potential Church for 5 Years of teachings, I learned a lot but I am sure God needs me to learn something else or have a different purpose for me. Hello Debbie! I will give you 1 of the reasons why I left....HALLOWEEN! why a church that it is preaching God's holy word will be also celebrating something so pagan....again..that's me, I don't feel that is correct and it's not the only reason why I am leaving. Ask God for discernment and God bless you!
